Nice article! Though it's written in 1998, it's still accurate. Unfortunately, there have been some changes on the fillmstock market, f.e. Kodachrome is discontinued (sniff). But there are lots of alternatives. And you can easily process/develop films at home. On my site are instructions for those interested: www.super8camera.com
Spielberg and Abrams did an utterly superb job keeping the suspense alive throughout the movie. But then it took an extremely wimpy nosedive toward the end. The movie turned from a brilliant, alien thriller to a lukewarm, Saturday afternoon television movie good for the kids! End Result: Forgetable. But, only because of the lame ending.
Born in the crater of a live volcano, on the planet Mars.
I'm able to work without sleep for more than a week,
food for more than a month,
water for a week, and air for about four minutes.
If the paycheck bounces,
I'm outta there, but I do
freebies sometimes, if the script is good, and the project is interesting.
I've attended the Academy Awards 17 times, and the Grammy Awards twice.
I've worked on a bunch of big-budget Hollywood movies, and have very few screen credits.
(I usually work on doomed movies, past their time and budget, their credits are already allocated.) Not in ImDb, yes I know. I don't care, paycheck please.
I've worked on several movies that were nominated for an Oscar, and one winner.
Mostly in visual effects, but lots of other jobs. Focused on Producing and Directing. Worked on your favorite Hollywood movies. Making my movies now.

Thanks Harmjan,
ReplyDeleteIf things keep heading in a digital way, we may all be processing at home. Or at your home. Keep a tank (35mm wide) set aside for me!
